First and foremost, I'd like to wish a Happy New Year to anybody that decides to grace my new blog with their presence! I'm hoping that I will stick to one of the resolutions I've decided to make this year and I will keep up with this blog on a regular basis. I've been in pretty good shape since I first started, so I'd say I'm not doing too bad thus far, and I'd like to keep up the momentum.
I know I've only mentioned this briefly before, but I also happen to be a vlogger, and I'm part of a collab channel known as The Vlogging Iggles, all of us members of the IGGPPC. Yesterday I felt determined to stop being lazy and to finally put up a video this week, since I had decided that this would be the year that I set some real resolutions for myself and actually stick to them. If you'd like to see the video for yourself you can find that here. And check out all the other great vlogging iggles while you're at it!
Anyway, even with the video, I'd still like to get my resolutions here in writing.
#1: Vlog more!
This year I'm taking on a bigger course load at school than I'm used to, and it was really keeping me from making regular videos the past 4 months. What I'm hoping to do is to get into some sort of regular routine with making videos - perhaps I'll start filming a few vlogs at once and editing them later - so that I can get up a video once a week.
#2: 365 Photo A Day Challenge!
This is something that I came across on the IGGPPC website and I thought that it might be kind of fun to try out. Ever since starting up a blog as part of a class assignment and branching out into unknown territories of social media, I've gotten the hang of using Instagram and I think that's what I'm going to use to post pictures every day. The newest iggle staff member has posted up some prompts for the first week of the year.
I'll admit I'm not 100% on all of these prompts - when I think of Negative Space the first thing I think of is my messy bedroom, and for Isolate the Subject I'm just hoping the focus on my phone's camera will allow me to take a semi-decent shot - but I still like the idea to sticking to these prompts as much as I can.
I think I'll be including weekly posts here to show off and caption my photos, along with uploading them to Instagram.
#3: Blog More!
Now this one probably seems like a given, but I really am determined that I make this blog a part of my regular routine, along with vlogging, and I hope I don't fail in that regard.
#4: Write More!
This is a general resolution, but one I still plan to stick to. Not only do I want to keep up with this blog, but I'd like to roleplay more often as well. I'm also a contributor for PaperDroids, and I'd like to submit as many articles to them as I can. I should have one coming out sometime this week about the joys of letter writing and snail mail, and I'll definitely be doing a feature here when that is published on the site.
#5: Be A Bigger Geek!
I don't mean for this resolution to be strictly reflexive. I not only want to learn more about geeky things and try new geeky things, but I would like to connect with more geeks as well. You can never have too many geeky friends over the internet, and I'm hoping I can really immerse myself in a great, geeky community, not just through tie IGGPPC but through any other methods in which I can meet smart, funny, amazing geeks that I would get along with.
I suppose that's it for now. Hope everybody enjoys their post-party cleanups - or hangovers. As for me, I'll be rewatching When Harry Met Sally since I fell asleep before getting to the end of the movie when it was on TV last night. Bye for now!
