Meet Mia Moore / xoMia!

Finally got around to creating a #GeeksRunTheWorld graphic! 'bout time, right? XD
Time for all of you to meet another amazing geek girl & iggle, Mia Moore, aka xoMia!
Mia was nominated by myself - Mia is one of the people I look up to the most since becoming an iggle and joining the overall online geek community. I love her blog, I admire her for being able to speak up about her experiences with anxiety, and she inspires me by the work she's done on her own blog and on Superheroesque with Liz Locksley which promotes positivity, self-love, creativity and being true to yourself and your passions.
Without further ado, it's time to meet Mia!
TWW(s): As of this moment, what are your Top 5 Geek Loves?
Mia: I'm super into comics, especially Image titles like Sex Criminals and Rat Queens, Game of Thrones, blogging, magical girl anime, and, of course, cosplay!

TWW(s): If you had to describe yourself in 5 words, what would they be? Why those words?
Mia: Hmm, that's a tough one! I'd probably pick: ambitions, contagiously enthusiastic, passionate, and cheesy. I'm a really driven person - I always have a lot of projects going on, and I try to do my best with everything I do. I've been told that I have a really positive personality that is almost infectious. And I chose "cheesy" because I have the cheesiest sense of humor! Lots of groan-inducing puns.

TWW(s): What is the #1 thing in your life that you are the most excited about right now? Something that you're just dying to fangirl/gush about?
Mia: I'm in the process of reading The Heritage of Shannara series right now - my boyfriend loved it when he was younger and gave it to me as a gift so I could experience it, too. It's super old, so nobody's currently reading it (that I know of), but I desperately want to talk about it to someone!
TWW(s): Describe a typical day in your life. Where do you go? What do you do?
Mia: Right now, my main commitments are finishing up the final semester of my digital media MBA program and working. In a typical day, I'll go to classes, work from home, take conference calls and virtual meetings, and do homework. In my spare time, I watch Netflix or Hulu, work on my blog, and read. Not too terribly exciting, I know! On the weekends, I love to go to brunch, explore farmer's markets, and sometimes, even work on cosplay. ;)

TWW(s): Do you have a favorite memory or two from the conventions you've attended? Tell us about them!
Mia: It's difficult to narrow it down since I've had so many great times! One of my favorite memories last year was meeting Pedro Pascal at a Game of Thrones event [at SDCC]/ We weren't told there would be a special guest of any kind, so it was a huge surprise and he was so nice!
TWW(s): Tell us about your very first cosplay and where you gain inspiration from nowadays as an avid cosplayer?
Mia: My very first cosplay was in 2007 and I went as Piyoke from the Di Gi Charat spin-off series Leave it to Piyoko! I purchased the costume online, and even though I submitted my own measurements, it was fit terribly. (I think it can be hard to tailor costumes via email!) I got my mom to style my hair like Piyoko because I was anti-wigs. Even though it wasn't the best costume and I hit a million road blocks, it was so much fun and really got me interested in cosplay! I didn't do another cosplay until years later, though.
Nowadays I find inspiration everywhere. I'm equally inspired by character themselves - I love to cosplay characters that I relate to or that I want to emulate in some way - and the costume design. Game of Thrones is costuming eye candy!

TWW(s): If you could travel anywhere, real or fictional, where would it be and why? A foreign country, the world of your favorite novel, sky's the limit!
Mia: There are so many place I'd love to travel, but I think if I had the option, I'd love to be a mermaid for a few days and explore underseas.

TWW(s): When did you first start your blog? What were some of your goals with your blog back then? What are some of the goals you are pursuing now?
Mia: I began my blog in mid-2012. I wanted to learn more about digital marketing by running my own blog and social media. Originally, I envisioned my site as a fashion blog, but it's evolved so much since then! Now, some of my goals are to build more resources for the geek girl community and extend my site to encompass other media. I'm also working on an e-book based off my Cosplay 101 series, which I hope to launch by the end of the year!
TWW(s): What other sorts of projects do you have on the go right now?
Mia: Yes! My other website, Superheroesque, is currently on hiatus, but we are planning on bringing it back soon with all kinds of new content. I am working with Geek Girl Brunch to launch the chapter in May. I'm also working on launching two podcasts with my bff, Liz Locksley, and adding more to my YouTube channel!

TWW(s): When did you first become an iggle and how did you originally hear about the IGGPPC?
Mia: I joined in one of the very first rounds of the IGGPPC and I heard about it via my bff Liz Locksley.

TWW(s): Tell us about any pen pals you've met through the IGGPPC!

Mia: I've done a few rounds of the IGGPPC, and they've been hit or miss. Some pen pals haven't replied, but the ones who have have been incredible! It's so wonderful to have snail mail to look forward to, cute packages to decorate, and my friends across the globe.
TWW(s): When did you start self-identifying as a geek?

Mia: I started self-identifying as a geek in college, even though I've been a nerd for pretty much my whole life. I used to think I wasn't geeky enough to call myself a geek, but now I realize that really doesn't matter.

TWW(s): Look at the iggle Manifesto and tell us your favorite line from it, or the line you'd like to most apply to yourself, and why.

Mia: It's a tie between "I will be my best self, daily" and "I will make real connections with my fellow iggles." It's so important to remember to be nice in the geek community - there are too many gatekeepers out there already! - and what truly makes it special is all the people involved.
