Hi all! The theme for this week is supposed to be "5 Favorite Seasonal Foods", and as I started to compile my list I realized that some of my favorite seasonal things happened to be sweets, so I was going to list Treats instead of Food. And then, I realized that there weren't as many things I liked to eat as much as there were things I liked to treat myself to around this time of year, so that's what I've decided to write about! You should be able to treat yourself any time of the year, but when it comes to this time of year when you're trying to finish your Christmas shopping and all of you American folks are getting ready for Thanksgiving, it's always good to take a little time to "treat yo temple", as Liz Locksley would say :) Here are 5 things I like to treat myself to around this time of year.
#1: Bath Bombs from Lush! It was originally Zoella that taught be about the glory of enjoying your favorite bath bombs during the cooler months, and this is the perfect kind of item that's out there for a person to buy in order to treat themselves. They smell great, some include nourishing properties for your skin, and a few even include glitter for those cold days that you want to feel a little more sparkly XDD The perfect seasonal treat!
#2: New Sugar Cookies from Tim Horton's! These babies are brand-spanking new, and I already adore them so much. They're part of the new line of stuffed cookies that Tim Horton's has (I bet you American readers don't have a clue about what I'm talking about. Enjoy your Dunkin'! XD), and these sugar cookies are filled with just the right amount of icing. It's not a huge heaping amount that'll leave you gritting your teeth later from the sugar, and it's not such a small sliver that you'd hardly notice is there. It's the Goldilocks-perfect amount :) And I plan on ordering a ton of these until they stop making them.
#3: Fun Times with Friends Playing Board Games! When it gets to be colder and colder outside, and you don't feel like walking around even to go to the movies, the next best thing you can do when you're hanging out with your friends is to play a whole whack of board games together! All of the camaraderie - or backstabbing, depending on which game your group has chosen to play - is sure to light a fire in the soul, and while I love playing tabletop games all year round, as the weather gets crummier it gets more and more likely than I'll be staying in with my best buds playing a riveting round of Betrayal or Dead of Winter.
#4: Hot Apple Cider - With A Cinnamon Stick, Of Course :) I have some of the powdered stuff here at home, and I will occasionally order some hot apple cider from Tim Horton's when I'm in the mood for it, but nothing beats the real stuff, especially when it's topped with a cinnamon stick. When I was working at the Balls Falls Thanksgiving Festival this year, they always came with a truck to bring us real hot apple cider around 11 o'clock, and me and the girl who I shared a ticket booth with got smart and brought a thermos with us to get filled with the apple-y goodness that would last us throughout the rest of the day. I wish I had access to some real cider, but the powdered stuff from Second Cup will do for now, and I can always pick up some cinnamon sticks for myself!
#5: A New Fluffy Blanket to Curl Up In! This could be a big or small expense, depending where you shop, but either way it's definitely the perfect time of year to go through the blankets that you currently own and decide whether it might be a good idea to spoil yourself and pick up a brand new one that you can snuggle up to through the coming season. Whether you also have a cuddly animal at home, or a significant other, or even both, it's time to treat yourself to some cuddles under the softest, warmest blanket you can possibly find.
What sorts of things do you like to treat yourself to around this time of year? Let me know in the comments below!
I love the people are mixing it up this week! I've never used a LUSH bath bomb even though I'd love to. Maybe I should treat myself this Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI love all of the seasonal Lush bath bombs as well :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great twist on the theme! Yeah, we Yanks lack Timmy's (which doesn't bother me, because I live close enough to Voodoo Donut) but the bigger travesty is that we're limited in our LUSH. Take pity on us southerner folks, the nearly LUSH-less. ;)
ReplyDeleteIf it makes you feel better, I'm not exactly close to a physical LUSH location either XP I visited one when I lived in Toronto for 4 months, but otherwise if I want anything from there now it'll have to be ordered online XP No having fun going into the store and smelling all the things.
DeleteI have got to try those Lush bath bombs. My friends talks about how cool they are all the time, but I've still never tried one. They look super fun, too.
ReplyDeleteLove this twist on the prompt! Those Lush bath bombs look like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteOMG Hot Apple Cider!!! :) And those Lush bath bombs look amazing too! :)
